Drivers License / ID Restrictions

Driver License Requirements

• •All hirers must be in possession of a valid, original driving licence including photo ID.
• •Driving licences must have been held for a minimum of 1 year with no major endorsements.
• •Driving licences must be in English, Latin, or Roman alphabet.
• •Digital driving licences are not accepted. A physical driving licence is required to hire.
• •An International Driving Permit is required when the driving licence is not in English, Latin, or Roman alphabet.
• •The hirer is solely responsible for ensuring their licence is valid for use in Croatia and for determining whether an International Driving Permit is required.
• •If the hirer arrives at the rental desk without the necessary documentation, the booking will be cancelled with no refund.

Rental May Be Denied For

• •Previous driving disqualifications
• •Pending prosecution or police enquiry
• •Convictions for offences relating to theft, fraud, or dishonesty
• •At-fault accident within the last 5 years
• •More than 1 accident in the last 3 years
• •Defective vision

Forms of Identification: Valid photo ID (passport or national ID).

Local Traveller Restrictions: N/A

Forms of Payment

* Debit cards are accepted for the security deposit with the Premium Plus package.

Accepted cards must be in the main driver's name, have sufficient funds to cover the excess liability, and have an expiry date at least 2 months beyond the return date. Cards without a clearly visible card number and expiry date cannot be accepted.

If the original booking was paid with a third-party credit or debit card, details, permissions, and authorisation relating to the transaction may be required; otherwise the hire may be refused.

Deposit and Protection Packages

Green Motion offers 4 packages with varying levels of protection. Basic is the cheapest with the highest damage and theft excess; Premium Plus is the most expensive but comes with zero excess and a very low security deposit.

A security deposit is pre-authorised on the main driver's credit card. The funds are ring-fenced rather than charged and are usually released within 5 to 15 days after return.

Damage to windows, mirrors, wheels, tyres, undercarriage, engine, clutch, interior, lost keys, towing charges, flat battery, and loss of use are not included within the excess unless otherwise stated.

Third-party liability cover is included: up to 6,300,000 EUR for personal injury and up to 1,270,000 EUR for property damage.

Insurance Information

Roadside Assistance: optional at 19.50 EUR per rental, with response within 24 hours in Croatia / 36 hours abroad. The included basic cover responds within 48 hours in Croatia / 72 hours abroad and covers mechanical breakdowns only (exclusions apply: flat tyre, burned clutch, wrong fuel, flat battery).

Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW)

SCDW reduces the excess to zero and the deposit to a lower amount. It can be purchased in addition to any pricing package. SCDW does not cover damage to the interior or underside of the vehicle, tyre and wheel damage, broken or lost keys, fuel contamination, or deliberate damage.

Wheels and Glass Protection (WGP): 9 EUR per day, zero excess for damage to the wheels and glass of the rental vehicle (all vehicle groups).

Ferry Insurance: 35 EUR per rental.

Bookings made under a USA/Canada source-market rate typically exclude Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection (TP). Such cover can be purchased at the rental counter; without it, the excess is unlimited and a higher security deposit applies.

Cross Border, One Way, and Optional Extras

A cross-border fee of 69 EUR per rental applies.

• •Vehicles are permitted to travel to EU countries, Montenegro, Albania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Switzerland, North Macedonia, and Norway only. Countries not listed are not permitted.
• •Travel through the Neum Corridor is subject to a 69 EUR charge.
• •One-way rentals between Green Motion Croatia locations are available and subject to a drop-off fee that depends on the route.

Optional Equipment List and Cost

• •Infant child seat: 15 EUR per day
• •Child toddler seat: 15 EUR per day
• •Booster seat: 15 EUR per day
• •GPS: 15 EUR per day
• •Winter tyres: 3.20 EUR per day
• •Additional driver: 8 EUR per day (maximum 3 additional drivers per rental)
• •Installation of baby/child seats is the hirer's responsibility.

Operational Fees and Policies

• •Minimum age 19 (21 or 25 for selected vehicle groups); maximum age 75.
• •Young driver surcharge (19-21): 12.50 EUR per day, max 125 EUR. Senior driver surcharge (65-75): 10.00 EUR per day, max 100 EUR.
• •Fuel policy: Basic and Plus packages — like for like; Premium and Premium Plus — full to full. Missing fuel is charged at 3.80 EUR per litre plus a 25 EUR refuelling fee.
• •Unlimited kilometres on all packages.
• •Winter package: a mandatory charge of 2.50 EUR per day is included between 15 November and 15 April (snow chains supplied).
• •Out-of-hours service (on request, where offered): 50 EUR, may be higher after midnight.
• •Some vehicles contain tracking devices used in accordance with the data protection policy.
• •Lost keys are deemed negligence and are not covered by the excess limitation or risk reduction packages.

Cancellation and No-Show Policy

• •All cancellations must be made in writing or through your Green Motion account; telephone cancellations are not accepted.
• •Reservations are held for 2.5 hours from the reservation time; after that, the booking is treated as a no-show and is non-refundable.
• •Basic package: non-refundable.
• •Plus and Premium packages: 7+ days before the start date — refund minus the cancellation admin fee; 3-6 days — 50% refund; 2 days — 25% refund; 0-1 day — no refund.
• •A minimum cancellation fee applies to prepaid reservations: 15 GBP / 15 USD / 15 AUD / 15 EUR depending on the booking currency.
• •Premium Plus package: free cancellation until 48 hours before the reservation start time.
• •Pay on arrival bookings: the no-show / cancellation fee equals the prepaid amount and no refund is due.
